Lawrence Burton & Tim Boydstun, on air. These leaders share about The Willie Ross Foundation which provides services for the developmentally disabled since 1982. The mission of the Willie Ross Foundation is to enhance the quality of life for non-verbal, deaf, and developmentally disabled adults, encouraging these individuals to be as independent as possible by teaching them how to communicate, make choices, express needs appropriately, be safe in the community, and develop job skills. The Willie Ross Foundation provides residential and outpatient services to non-verbal, deaf clients. They have Adventure Therapy programs that include rock climbing and sailing and also offer therapeutic horseback riding programs for adults and youth that suffer from cerebral palsy, autism, Down's Syndrome and other developmental disorders. The goals and objectives of the Foundation are to address the needs of the multiple handicapped individuals who manifest serious behavioral excesses and deficits in addition to having a hearing impairment. Because of this, we have established a positive, protective living environment that provides rehabilitative services and nuturing support to adults who are severely challenged by a hearing impairment and severe behavior problems often associated with autism or other handicapping conditions.

The goal of our program is to offer individualized programs that promote continuous growth within the context of "normalization," a developmental model which emphasizes the lease restrictive environment, this is known as Picture Assisted Language Enhancement (P.A.L.E). http://www.willierossfoundation.org; Telephone: [818] 786-7677
